About Our Pastors
Pastor Greg and Glenna Mayhorn have faithfully served as the senior pastors of Freedom Word Church since moving to Central Virginia in 1990 with their two children, Jennifer and Daniel.
With a strong emphasis on Bible teaching, worship, and the move of the Holy Spirit, they have led the church through seasons of growth—including the construction of a new sanctuary in 2004.
In 2014, Pastor Greg published his first book, Tongues: Speaking from the Spiritual Dimension and continues to provide spiritual leadership and vision.
Pastor Glenna leads our W.O.W. Women’s Ministry and prayer ministry, sharing God’s love, offering encouragement, and spiritual counsel with others.
Together, they remain dedicated to the vision God has given them and committed to equipping believers and building a thriving church family.

Jack & Cheryel Adams
Men's Ministry Lead
Jack leads our Men’s Ministry, where men gather one Saturday each month for encouragement, fellowship, and spiritual growth.
Both Jack and Cheryel serve faithfully on our Usher/Greeter Team, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
They also teach in our Tuesday Prayer School, sharing biblical insights and helping others grow in prayer.

Derrick Darden
Pastoral Care & Usher/Greeter Teams Lead
Derrick serves as our Pastoral Care Ministry Lead, offering support and spiritual encouragement to those in need.
He also leads our Usher/Greeter Team, ensuring every guest and member feels seen, welcomed, and loved from the moment they arrive.

Garrison & Hannah Greene
Assistant Music Ministry Director
Garrison is the Assistant Music Ministry Director, working closely with the Praise & Worship Team and leading the musicians.
Children & Youth Ministry Director
Hannah serves as the Children & Youth Director, nurturing the next generation in their faith.
She also leads our Screens Ministry and is a vocalist on the Praise & Worship team.

Financial Ministry Lead
Jason serves as our Church Treasurer, faithfully stewarding the church’s financial resources with integrity and excellence.
Assistant Pastoral Care Team Lead
Deana serves as the Assistant Pastoral Care Ministry Lead, offering support and compassion to those navigating life’s challenges.
She also serves as a teacher in our Ignite Youth class.

Moriah Greene
Social Media Content Creator
Moriah serves as our Social Media Content Creator, helping to share our church’s message and mission online.
She also leads our Photography Team and serves as a musician and vocalist on the Praise & Worship team. In addition, she is a substitute teacher in the Children & Youth Ministry.

A/V Ministry Lead
Chris leads our A/V Ministry, making sure every service runs smoothly from behind the scenes with excellence in all visuals.

Facilities Manager
Jeremy serves as our Facilities Manager and oversees our Sound Production, ensuring everything behind the scenes runs smoothly.

Music Ministry Director
Nick is our Music Ministry Director, leading our praise and worship team with excellence and a heart for God’s presence.

Events Team Co-Lead
Cheryl serves as a co-lead of our Events Team, working closely with others to plan, organize, and host church-wide gatherings that foster connection, fellowship, and fun. Her creativity and attention to detail help bring every event to life with excellence.
