 Prayer Ministry

What things so ever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.  Mark 11:24

It is an honor and a privilege to be able to pray with you concerning your need. Our prayer partners will agree in prayer with you and believe that God will meet your needs. May God richly add His blessings to you!

Our Purpose

  • Teach believers, by precept and example, how to pray effectively
  • Teach Corporate prayer
  • To help believers to be more sensitive and responsive to the leading of the Holy Spirit
  • Lay a foundation of prayer for our church (the vision, the many outreaches, our leaders, congregation and partners
  • Pray for our community, region, and nation
  • To offer teaching and instruction about prayer to other churches and leaders

FREEDOM WORD PRAYER SCHOOL
Every Monday at 7:00 pm. We have a twenty to twenty-five minute teaching on prayer or a related topic, and conclude with a time of corporate and individual prayer.

RECEIVING PRAYER
The first and most effective way is through attending one of our services throughout the week. Prayer is made available in all services for those who have need.

Please click on the "Prayer Request" button on the right to send us your prayer request. You can also feel free to  call the church at (434) 352-2434 between 8:00am and 4:30 pm.  If you call after our office hours you can leave a message and your request will be forwarded to those who can best pray for your need.

We would also like updates of the situation, including the outcome. Please call or e-mail us with the pertinent developments and praise reports.

PRE-SERVICE PRAYER
The prayer room is open for prayer before each regularly scheduled service. Prayer time on Wednesday begins thirty minutes before service and concludes ten minutes prior to service. Prayer time on Sunday begins one hour before service and concludes ten minutes prior to service. Prayer during these times is centered on the upcoming service as well as other corporate needs of the church body.

Prayer Keys

  • Pray according to God's will
  • God's word is His will. Your Bible is a copy of the will and purpose of God. If it's in the Bible, and promised to believers, it can be yours through prayer.
  • Pray to the Father in Jesus' name
  • Jesus said himself in John 16:23 "And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. "  When a believer uses the name of Jesus in prayer, he is guaranteed an audience with the Father.
  • Believe you receive when you pray
"...what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24. If we have based our prayer on scriptures, we are assured of the answer, even though we may not feel or see any difference in the natural realm. God is at work!
  • Don't allow unforgiveness or strife to be in your heart
Mark 11:25-26 "And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any; that your Father which is in Heaven may forgive your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will our Father which is in Heaven forgive your trespasses."    These words make it clear that strife and unforgiveness will block our prayers from being answered.
  • Practice the power of Praise
If we truly believe God has answered our prayer the moment we prayed, we will have something to praise and be thankful about.  Praise helps keep the switch of faith turned on. Philippians 4:6 says, " Be careful (worried) for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."
Directors of Freedom Word Prayer Ministry

Douglas and Regina Cooper

Douglas Cooper has been ministering the gospel since 1973 beginning first as an associate minister with tent evangelists.  Opening the services, leading praise and worship and also preaching were all a part of that phase of ministry.

Douglas and Regina married in 1984 and started their ministry together in West Virginia.  They based in Oklahoma while their three children graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center.

In 2004 they moved to Appomattox to serve as Prayer Ministry Coordinators at Freedom Word Church reflecting their desire to serve their home church in the area of prayer.

Their ministry has a strong emphasis on teaching prayer by precept and example, teaching the great truths of who we are in Christ and fanning the flame of revival today.
